Our history

On April 24, 1913, the Mayor of the city of Biarritz merged Biarritz Stadium and Biarritz Sporting Club to form a single entity: the Biarritz Olympique. From birth, the Biarritz Olympique started the trophy quest.

After twice raising the “Bouclier de Brennus” (1935 and 1939) before WWII and pushed by Marcel Martin, the Biarritz Olympique evolved to become the Biarritz Olympique Pays Basque in 1998.

Successful adaptation for the Club which won the last French Cup (2000) then three times the “Bouclier de Brennus” (2002, 2005, 2006) under the leadership of Patrice Lagisquet.

The BOPB, chaired by Serge Blanco, took an international stature and reached twice the final of the European Cup (2006 and 2010). The BOPB played 7 finals in 12 years: only the Stade Toulousain will have done better.

The BOPB, despite winning the final of the Amlin Challenge Cup against RC Toulon in 2012, will then have an honorable course before the emergence of a new project of development of the club in 2018, under the presidency of Jean-Baptiste Aldigé and Louis-Vincent Gave. The academy becomes the main goal of the Club, with the desire to be in the top 20 professional rugby clubs in France.

A breeding ground for champions, this century-old club, which has always been able to count on its supporters to color the stands of the Aguilera stadium, in Red and White of course or the Basque colors of the Ikurrina, now takes a new direction to revive the flame.

Cocktail volunteers/players

To thank the volunteers of Biarritz Olympique Pays Basque for their investment throughout the season, a cocktail was organized this Thursday, January 31 at 19:00 at the Grand Salon Serge Kampf.

This time, the roles were reversed, and it was the BOPB players and employees who were at the service of the volunteers.

Program of the evening: paella, Basque songs and pastry competitions!

A good moment  for the big family of Biarritz Olympique Pays Basque.
